Justin Trudeau ducking questions from the media

“Open and transparent” Trudeau is not as advertised

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

?

In 2015, Justin Trudeau promised to do politics differently. He promised to be open and transparent.

But yet again, Trudeau is not as advertised.

In the middle of blocking an RCMP investigation into possible obstruction of justice and damning media reports that he sold out Canadian farmers on the advice of Donald Trump’s American billionaire friend during the NAFTA negotiations, Trudeau has only taken one media question in the last two days.

Not only that, but Trudeau ran away from the first Leader’s debate, refusing to stand up and defend his record of deficits, corruption, and higher taxes.

At his 2015 campaign press conference launch, Trudeau laughed and said “Unlike the other guys, I tend to take a lot of questions.

On the other hand, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer attended the first debate and has fielded media questions every single day of the campaign, including 46 media questions in the last two days.

Had Trudeau had the courage to face the media over the weekend, here are questions he should have faced:

  1. Why haven’t you waived cabinet confidence as a part of the RCMP investigation into the SNC-Lavalin corruption scandal? What are you trying to hide?
  2. Why do you continue to hide behind independent public servants when it comes to waiving cabinet confidence? According to the letter of the law, and legal and political experts, it is you and you alone who has the power to waive cabinet confidence.
  3. Why did you sell-out Canadian farmers on the advice of Donald Trump’s American billionaire friend?
  4. The Conservatives have calculated that your carbon tax hike will add 31 cents to the price of gas and increase natural gas bills by $469. How much will the carbon tax go up and how much will it cost Canadians?
    • Saudi Arabia is going to dramatically scale back its oil production, which is widely expected to send gas prices soaring. What is your plan to help Canadians deal with high gas prices?
  5. Your MP Adam Vaughan wants to bring in a new tax on home sales that would see Canadians taxed up to 50% on money earned on the sale of their homes. Why do Liberals want to tax Canadian home sales?
  6. Your former candidate in Saint Leonard-Saint Michel was removed for extremist and antisemitic views. You knew about these views for weeks and rather than fire him, you devised a “PR strategy” to try and keep him. Why did you conceal this candidate’s extremist views from Canadians?
  7. Your MP Joe Peschisolido was in court last week for his alleged involvement in an “illegal international money-laundering scheme.”
  • Do you think it’s acceptable for one of your candidates to be involved in an “illegal” money-laundering scheme?
  • When pressed about specific details of his involvement, Peschisolido consistently said he “doesn’t remember.” Do you find this defence acceptable?
